7th November 2021

Donate festive food to help Isle of WightFoodbank bring joy to local families in crisis this Christmas.

From November 1st – 24th, follow along with our Reverse Advent Calendar and each day give an item to support a local person in crisis.

Isle of Wight Foodbank is asking local people to help bring festive cheer to families struggling to eat this Christmas by donating festive food items to the food bankFor some families, the Christmas boxes given out alongside standard food parcels will be their only treat this Christmas.

We are hoping to collect enough Christmas food from the Island community for local people facing bleak times this Christmas. They will be given Christmas boxes containing mince pies, puddings, chocolates and other festive treats alongside a standard emergency food parcel. The food bank partners with frontline care professionals, such as health visitors, social workers and other community-based support workers, who are able to identify people in crisis and refer them to the food bank

Isle of Wight Foodbank Manager Hannah King says: ‘Christmas is a very tough time to be hungry – it’s cold and it is heartbreaking to know you cannot give your children a Christmas treat when everyone else is celebrating. Hidden behind closed doors there are many Island families with little to look forward to this Christmas, the good news is we can all helpWe hope that the Island community will join in with our Reverse Advent Calendar to help local people with little to look forward to a happier Christmas.’
