The Isle of Wight community is being encouraged to support an inspiring fundraising challenge as Isle of Wight Foodbank joins forces with Tesco and other charities for the ‘Tour de Tesco’ charity bike ride on Thursday 21 May 2026.
As part of the challenge, Foodbank volunteers will cycle from Tesco Ryde to Tesco Freshwater – a distance of 19.3 miles – to help raise vital funds and awareness for people facing hunger across the Island.
The sponsored bike ride forms part of a wider community fundraising effort with Tesco, bringing together volunteers, supporters and local charities.
Every mile cycled and every pound donated will help the Foodbank continue providing emergency food supplies and practical support to individuals and families facing hunger.
The campaign also aims to highlight the increasing demand for foodbank services across the Isle of Wight and the importance of community support in ensuring nobody goes hungry.
Kay Lewis, Foodbank Manager at Isle of Wight Foodbank, said:
“Tour de Tesco is a fantastic way to bring people together while supporting an essential local causes. We are incredibly grateful to Tesco, our volunteers and everyone who is donating or cheering the riders on.
“Your support will help us continue providing emergency food and essential support to people across the Isle of Wight who are facing difficult times. Every donation really does make a difference.”
Isle of Wight Foodbank has seen growing demand for its services in recent years, with volunteers working tirelessly to ensure no one in the community goes hungry.
The Isle of Wight Foodbank says community fundraising events like Tour de Tesco play a vital role in helping the charity respond to growing levels of need across the Island.
