About

The Isle of Wight foodbank

Our foodbank is a project founded by local churches, working together with the island's community to help those who find themselves in crisis.

Clients are referred to us through a voucher scheme.  We work with approximately 100 frontline care professionals who hold our vouchers and distribute appropriately.  Clients can only have 3 vouchers within a 6 month period, unless discussion is had between the foodbank manager and the professional – and then, and only then, subsequent vouchers may be offered. One voucher entitles the client to 3 days-worth of nutritionally balanced food.

In addition to supporting people in crisis, we are providing volunteering opportunities to over 100 local people of various ages and backgrounds, providing a platform for them to develop new skills and in some cases build much needed confidence.
