British Gas, Red Funnel and Tesco join forces to help fight food poverty on the Isle of Wight

17th July 2020

Between April and July this year, over 12 tonnes of food were generously donated to us from Tesco. A team from British Gas, with the use of their British Gas vans, have collected from the Mainland then delivered this food to us every week.

Red Funnel have entirely supported the crossings for two vans to the value of over £1000 which has been incredible. They have also donated confectionary goods which were unable to be sold due to the lack of sailings. Thanks especially to Sarah Drackford from Red Funnel who was helpful managing the bookings and working behind the scenes.

This has been a massive operation and shows just what can be done when we work together.

Paul Richards, Customer Delivery Manager for British Gas said, “I know that you have appreciated our help but it has been great for those that have helped, opening their eyes and giving them a really different perspective on the help that foodbanks provide.”

A thousands times, thank you.
