‘Eat Well Spend Less’ is part of the Trussell Trust’s More than Food programme which encourages foodbanks to widen their support beyond food to help people in crisis break the cycle of poverty.

Learning to Cook at Eat Well Spend Less

Our Eat Well Spend Less has been running now for 6 weeks.
We have had a great time together learning basic cooking skills and financial management techniques. It has been wonderful to see people grow over the weeks and to help them learn things which will help them on an everyday basis.

The feedback from our course has been very positive, with clients reporting that they feel much more confident in the kitchen.

“A big thank you for inviting us on this course. Over the past six weeks we have learned quite a lot of new things which we will take on board and use over the coming weeks and years ahead. It was a real eye-opener to learn about things that we may not have thought about in the past, such as budgeting money and looking at different types of food from supermarket own brands rather than the more expensive ones.”

Thank you to all of our volunteers who have given their time helping to make this work, along with Southern Housing Group and Waitrose’s Community Matters Scheme.

We will be running our next course starting in September.
