Volunteers make a difference in the local community across a range of roles, including boosting donations, packing food parcels, providing a warm welcome, tackling loneliness, signposting to additional services, connecting with partners, raising awareness and leading projects.

Volunteer roles

Van Driver (Isle of Wight)

You’ll play an important role in transporting food from collection points across the Island to our Warehouse in Cowes for sorting, and finally onto one of our five local Foodbanks, which will help to make a real difference to the Island community. A confident and safe driver, you’ll enjoy being part of a team and be physically strong so that you can lift and load crates of food repeatedly. Your flexible and committed approach will help to maximise donations and improve the efficiency of our Foodbank. For insurance purposes you must be aged between 30 and 70.

General Volunteer (Isle of Wight)

We need people to support the Foodbank in a variety of different ways, whether that is helping to provide food to local people in one of our foodbanks, working in our warehouse, driving our vans to collect donations or deliver to our foodbanks, helping in our textiles department or looking after our garden. We have so many roles and can be flexible in our arrangements, whether you are looking for a regular commitment or an occasional role. Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet new people, keep busy and support your local community - it also looks great on your CV. We would love to welcome you to our team!
