Appeal for Emergency Christmas Food Supplies

29th November 2017

PRESS RELEASE

28 November 2017

APPEAL FOR EMERGENCY CHRISTMAS FOOD SUPPLIES

The Isle of Wight foodbank, which helps local people in a crisis, is making a further appeal for food supplies ahead of the busy Christmas period when they are expecting to feed record numbers of local families in need this December.

From Thursday 30 November – Saturday 2 December, Isle of Wight foodbank will be participating in Tesco’s National Neighbourhood Food Collection at Tesco Extra, Brading Road, Ryde.    Volunteers will be offering customers a foodbank shopping list as they enter the store and asking if they would consider buying an extra item or two from the list to donate to the foodbank to support local people in need.   These are basic food items and any help will be gratefully received.

Tesco is supporting this event by donating a generous 20% ‘top up’ on the value of the food items donated, ensuring they do not profit from this campaign. Tesco’s monetary donation will go towards providing further emergency food supplies for Isle of Wight foodbank.
